Hittin the slopes

I am REALLY excited about the ski season this year.

Just kicked off it's debut with a trip to Pomerelle yesterday! 

Now let me tell you a little something about Pomerelle....

It's a highly boring little mountain.

You ride up the chair lift for 10 minutes and you can be down the slope in 2. 

However, we still had a blast.

I went with my two girlfriends Juliene and Lizzy, and then our friends Karson and Paul Hall (yes that's really his name). 

So much fun singing on the chairlift, quoting movies, and having snowball fights,

amidst skiing some on some really great powder. 

Lodge food is so delicious after skiing. They had this hot stove in there that we dryed all our gear on. Karson had the bright idea to sit on it so he could dry his behind off... sat down for about .2 seconds and we hear this sizzling noise and he JUMPS off faster than a new york minute. Kept seeing him rubbing his butt all day after that... not the smartest idea :)

This chairlift is definitely leanin. Karson and Paul make a cute pair though, right?

                            

30 seconds after this Juliene got her skis caught on the escalator somehow and totally fell off it. Pretty hysterical. 3 yr olds can handle this but not Juliene! 

Thanksgiving

Well gang! A few days ago it was Thanksgiving, and it pretty much tops the list of my favorite holidays.

Except for my birthday of course, because that is a very important day.

I mean it IS the celebration of the birth. A very big deal.

But I digress.

Thanksgiving!

So I just wanted to share a little somethin somethin about what I am so thankful for. The MAIN things.

There are SO many more. It's nice to take a little time and remember why I have such a good life. Cause sometimes I'm a fool, and get down, and think everything is going wrong. But that's not true at all. Life is really good.

On another note.....
It's the Christmas season! Love it. I'm kind of having a hard time getting into it this year though. It's kinda hard when you're going to be spending the holidays in a tropical paradise. Not exactly the snowy, cozy holiday I'm used to. But I could NOT be more excited. I love to change things up, and I think I will love every second of spending this holiday a little differently than usual. This is the first year I'll be away from home on Christmas, ever. But to me it really doesn't matter where you spend it, it matters who you spend it with.
So anyways, MERRY CHRISTMAS! First time I've said it this year. Or typed it, rather.
Same dif.
Now it's back to a 2 week and 3 day grind until Hawaii.

Thankful

Today, I am thankful. 

I try to be thankful everyday actually,

but today it's just really easy to be.

IT'S SNOWING!!!!!!!

And not gross snowing, but beautiful snowing. 

HUGE, gorgeous flakes that are making me sooo happy.

Went shopping for some new ski pants this morning (mine are haggard, truly).

Didn't find any I liked, but it sure got me excited! 

Plans for a possible Monday trip to Targhee are in the works!  

 This could be me in 2 short days. Pure bliss!

My brother Mark and I went and saw Warren Miller a couple weeks ago.

For those of you who don't know, it's a skiing and snowboarding movie designed to get everyone sufficiently thrilled for the upcoming season. They have a drawing and give away some decent prizes, such as ski passes to Targhee and Pebble and other stuff as well. I've never won anything.

UNTIL THIS YEAR!! 

It was the very last drawing. Supposedly the grand prize.

Dumbest grand prize ever, but I was indeed the recipient. I won the wonderful opportunity to have my name entered in another drawing of hundreds of people. For a one week heli-ski vacation. Which would be absolutely rad. I mean really, I won the grand prize once, it could happen again right?! Wrong. But I'll keep hoping. The drawing isn't until February. And let's not forget the other gift that went along with my grand prize entrance. It's a mug with a hogs head on it, since CW Hogs hosted the Warren Miller movie event. Except the hog looks a little funny. Mark was the one that discovered the handicap. 

It has no ears. 

It looks as though they got broken off somewhere along the way.

Can you say classy?

Can you say white elephant gift?

Just hope you don't end up at a white elephant party with me this Christmas, cause you'll know just what my gift will be ;)

Ah, the joys of life. Even though it was a terribly lame grand prize, it was still fun to be a winner.

Plus,

Going on a date today. 4 wheeling up a mountain. Then sledding down that mountain.

I'm excited. 

And thankful.

Cause I'm blessed.

And happy.

You know what I love probably more than anything else? 

No, it's not german pancakes, although that does rank high on the list.

And no.. it's not even a perfect glass ski run, although you might ask me again after one of those and I might give you a different answer..

What it IS, in fact, is when you get pulled over

and you THINK you're going to get a ticket

and your heart is beating 200 mph

and then the cop walks back to your car, WITHOUT a ticket..

but just a warning to come to a complete stop at that red light next time

and you go your separate ways with no hard feelings..

THAT is what I love. 

Because you came so close to it, and then survived.

Now this story may or may not have happened to me recently..like Friday even...but no need to get all specific like that.

I'm just sayin... I love that. Don't you?

Obsession

Well folks, I have a new obsession.

I've really gotten creative this week without facebook. 

By the way, my facebook fast is over but I'm considering another one. It was surprisingly enjoyable. I ended up doing way better things with my time.... for the most part. I did spend quite a while looking for a new pair of black shoes, because mine are falling apart. And as fate would have it,  I came across these BEAUTIES. 

The only problem? 

They are a solid $140 dollars. 

Tis the season for miracles though, right?

If anyone was looking for a Christmas present for me.... ahem...you certainly couldn't go wrong with these :)

4 months later...

Alright guys, I'm serious this time. 

I've sought some professional help in getting this blog started (via my sister and brother in law), who rose to the occasion beautifully. I'm really pathetic when it comes to technology I've found out! But now that all my free time is gone, and I'm swamped to the absolute max in schoolwork.. I've decided it's time to get serious about this blogging business. I need an outlet, other than facebook. I'm actually on a purge. I spend way too much time on facebook, so my best and I made a pact to not get on until Saturday. It's only Monday, and I won't lie. I've found myself on the facebook sign in page like 20 times already today. A sign of addiction, you don't have to tell me! But I'm holdin strong. And turning to blogging to fill the void in my life.  :)  I feel pretty dorky about this, kind of like I'm writing in a diary that I know other people are reading. Oh well. Sigh. I like it already. Guess what? Not but 60 minutes ago, I bowled my best game ever. 169!! The pins just aligned for me tonight! Kind of made my day, which isn't hard when you go to school all day long. But still, I'm going to bed happy tonight. Over and out.
